| iknowbest's Full Review: Monte Carlo Resort And Casino |
The Monte Carlo is the perfect place to stay if you want to be close to all the action but not that close.
The Monte Carlo is an older casino (relatively speaking as new billion casino seems to pop almost monthly) so therefore more affordable.
So you can get a weekend package for cheaper while staying in the middle of the action! New York, New York, MGM, "The Castle" are all within close walking distance and it's a short hop down the strip to everything else.
You can enjoy all the new, mega-casinos and then return to the relative calm of Monte Carlo. After hours of lights, shows, people, dinging slots it is calming to return to the "European" feel of the Monte Carlo.
There are no grandiose themes, just comfortable rooms, decorated with wood and jewel tones.
The pool is fantastic. There are two kidney shaped pools, a lazy river pool where swimmers float around and around all day without lifting an arm practically and a wave pool that makes you feel like a kid again.
One thing-BEWARE THE SPA. While they have wonderful services, they can trick you into adding on services without mentioning that they cost extra. I went for a $50 haircut and ended up paying over $100 including "styling" translation: blow dry. The stylist did not mention the extra cost. Normally I wouldn't mind a small extra charge for blow drying but not that much. Hopefully they are more careful with most clients regarding this.
