The Monte Carlo hotel in Las Vegas has something for everyone! It is elegant yet comfortable at the same time. Adults will love the gaming areas as well as the pub. For the kids the pool area is great complete with a wave pool and river lagoon.
When I made our reservation a few months back I was looking for some where I hadn't stayed before and in the middle of all the "Las Vegas action". Since my 2 girlfriends and I would be dropping the kids off at my parents before going to the hotel we were looking for somewhere we could act like kids again ourselves. After finding the best price at the Monte Carlo I booked online for the first time (see my review of travelocity). Then I went and checked out the web site. Wow, just what I was looking for. Something nice that looked like fun as well. The web site is great, they even play music for you! It truly made me want to be there right away. After a few months of waiting, we where finally there.
Driving up there was plenty of free self parking as well as valet. Since we only had 1 bag each we walked over from the parking garage right into the lobby area. Short walk, heavy bags!! Check in was a snap. The only complaint I had was they didn't have just one line. They have many check in desks and you just have to hope you get lucky and pick the fastest one. Personally I like it when you stand in one line and the next person in line goes to the free desk clerk. Oh well maybe that's just me.
Our room was on the 19 th floor so up we went in the elevator to see our room. It was very classy. We had two double beds and a large bathroom. There is a table with two chairs and the rooms are good size. They do have a hair dryer but no fan in the bathroom. The only thing missing for me was a fridge. The colors in our room were a bit dark, but very pretty mostly browns. If you use the phone in your room be prepared to pay $1 every time you pick it up. They do charge you a service fee for calling card calls.
We did lose a bit at the casino that night but we did enjoy the prompt service. The cocktail girls were everywhere so we were able to get a drink if we wanted one. They have a pub with live music that we sat in for a while. We didn't get to try any of their beer since no one came over to our table to take our order and the music was not quite what we were looking for that night. It looks like it could be fun on a weekend night but maybe not on the weekday.
They have several restaurants there but the only one we ate at was the bagel shop. The bagels were fresh but a bit pricey since you can go to a buffet for 5-10$. They do have Lance Burtan the magician there for nightly shows. The magic shop looked like they do a great business but we didn't go in.
The pool area was great we went the next morning and had fun. They have a river lagoon that you can rent inter tubes for and just drift around all day. Be aware that you do have to pay for them and I think they were something like $10 a day. We just swam in the pool and had fun letting the water carry us away. They do have a wave pool that is pretty cold or was that day. The hot tub was big and nice and warm. We stayed in it for about 10 min and that was all we could handle! There is also a regular pool and a kiddie pool just for the little ones. If you do stay at the Monte Carlo do try out the pool area it is a must!
I called down and got us a late check out for 1pm. The front desk clerk was very nice and helpful. All the employees were very nice and the ones we talked to would go out of there way to help you. If you do get a late check out try there quick check out where you just drop your key in a box. We had to wait in line for 20 min since there were only 2 people checking people out at that time.
I would stay here again. We had a great time and I would love to swim in the pool all day long. Maybe next time I will have more time to try some of the restaurants too.
