This casino is a little bit different than most of the others on the Strip because of it relies less on gaudiness and more on elegance. The food emporium leads to a brick walkway which is very non-Las Vegas like. The cobblestones seem to lend a European feel
and ambience which is more conducive to the thirtysomething and older set. In addition, the buffet is quite good, unlike most of the other Vegas buffets which seem to have a mass-produced feel about them. The
main attraction, of course, is the illusionist Lance Burton, who can only be compared to David Copperfield in terms of skill and technique. He creates an unusual rapport with the audience which only further serves to enhance his wonderful show, which he performs twice nightly at the Lance Burton Theater. If you are a gambler, the race and sports book is second to none on the Strip. The only knock that I have about the Monte Carlo is that the slots do not seem to be particularly loose. If you are a slot player, I would strongly suggest going next store to the Holiday Inn Boardwalk hotel, which has much looser slots. Go easy on the gambling, and enjoy everything else the Monte Carlo has to offer in the way of fine restaurants, beautiful rooms, and great entertainment.
