Staying at the Monte Carlo is like staying at the Bellagio, only cheaper. The reason? The Monte Carlo is connected to the Bellagio through a free monorail which links the two hotels 24 hours a day. You can utilize all of the Bellagio's magnificent facilities (the Bellagio buffet is the best in Vegas - don't ever go to the Rio's - but that's another review), but instead of taking a Bellagio elevator up to your 200 dollar room, you take the monorail to your 90 dollar room at the Monte Carlo.
The Monte Carlo in itself is very nice. The casino is huge, yet a lot more cramped than the premium casinos. Then again, you aren't subsidizing huge open spaces with exorbiant room rates, so its a good trade off. The rooms are pretty typical, but instead of two double beds, they come equipped with two generous queens.
The poker room is pretty small, only 4-5 tables. Much better to take the monorail to Bellagio.
The pool is huge, with a special wave-action pool and a flowing river for the kids.
I have stayed at the Monte Carlo three times, and have enjoyed it every time. But then again, I usually spend most of my time over at the Bellagio. All travel has been in the middle of March, where weather is usually Sunny in the mid 60's to low 70's.
