We stayed at the Monte Carlo in August 1999, and really liked it. The rooms are nice (though not the nicest we have stayed in). The best thing about the Monte Carlo is the casino. It is much lighter than most, and does not feel as crowded. The tables don't seem to be quite as close together as some they are at some casinos. Also, it didn't seem as smoky as most.
We had been to the casino on previous visits, and really liked it. That is why we decided to stay there. The pool area is fantastic - be sure to take your swimsuit!
There is also a great steakhouse in the Monte Carlo - it's called Blackstone's. I had a wonderful steak and lobster dinner there. Really nice, white table cloth atmosphere. However, you don't have to be dressed up to get in. Just be sure to wear long pants - they don't allow shorts.
I'm not sure we would choose to stay at the Monte Carlo again, but I am sure we will visit the casino anytime we are in Las Vegas. It is definitely one of our favorites.
