Monte Carlo is a winner

Written: Jan 08 '00
Pros:Brew pub, poker room and friendliness
Cons:Not the best location

The Monte Carlo offers a complete and perfect Las Vegas experience. Whether you are in Las Vegas for just gambling or just entertainment or a little bit of both, I would highly recommend the Monte Carlo Hotel/Casino.

The rooms at the Monte Carlo are excellent. There is nothing striking in them that stands out, but the decoration is beautiful. The amenities are great as well. They are kept very clean by the staff and there are some great views of the strip available.

The casino itself is fabulous. It's not as big as some other casinos in Las Vegas, but to me, that's a good thing. The poker room is great. It's somewhat secluded from the main casino and jackpots are offered on "strong hands." The staff members in the poker room are all courteous and very friendly. They are more than eager to answer any questions you might have. The craps and blackjack dealers are also friendly. While I don't play roulette, if you do, this is the place to place. They offer single-zero roulette which cuts the casino advantage in half.

The restaurants are also great. I love the brew pub. It's a great place to pick up a burger or steak and have a few beers. Another advantage is that you can order their microbrews while gambling (free of charge, of course). A nice wheat beer sure beats a Bud. The food court is also nice with quite a variety---McDonalds, Sbarro and others.

Don't forget the location either. It's right next door to New York, New York and across the street from MGM. There is also the Boardwalk Casino on the other side if you are interested in playing in some lower limit games.

Overall, I would not hesitate to stay at Monte Carlo. If I don't stay there, I will definitely visit it for my gambling and eating needs.
