I highly recommend the Monte Carlo Hotel. Instead of fleeing the presmises after we had hastily stashed our luggage, like we did with the Flamingo Hilton, staying at the Monte Carlo was not a burden, but actually semi-enjoyable.
The location is awesome. You can take a tram to the Bellagio, or step outside and head to the Gameworks, All-Star Cafe, or M&M World. It's also right next to a crop of movie theaters.
The buffet there is nothing to write home about, but breakfast is $6.99, only 99 cents more than Circus Circus, and they're WORLDS APART in terms of quality. Everything I ate at Circus Circus didn't taste like it was supposed to. At the Monte Carlo buffet, food isn't top grade, but it isn't cheating to get by, either.
As far as gambling goes, you'll have to ask someone else. I don't gamble. However, my roomates weren't faring to well at the slots there, but hey, you can always leave.
Rooms were $59 per night during December, and were a pretty good bargain considering what the last trip cost us. If you're doing the Vegas thing on a budget, this is the place to be.
