Pros: Location, Location, shopping, atmosphere, Location.
Cons: Nothing that irritated me on this trip.
The Bottom Line: Great location, offers plenty of shopping, dining and shows without travelling far along the strip. Plenty of novelty and atmosphere.

Location = A, Shopping = B, Restaurants = A, Casino = A, Sportsbook = B, Lounges = B, Atmosphere = A, Special attractions = A, SPA = A, Cost = A
Myself and two buddies stayed here Dec 14th - 16th, 2003. We booked through a travel agency. Round trip airfare and room for two nights/days cost $260 (from Portland to Vegas).
I'll tell you why this may be the perfect spot on the strip. No room or hotel stats here, just real life and everyday observations.
The Vegas strip has become a huge show place. Each Hotel/Casino becoming more and more grand. Where to stay? I offer that the "Paris" is one of the best places.
LOCATION:
10 minutes from the airport. The location of the Paris alone qualifies it as a "best place" to stay. The strip is actually "Las Vegas Blvd". The Paris is located roughly at the Center of the strip, near the intersection of Las Vegas Blvd and Flamingo Ave. This makes it perfect for walking in either direction of the strip and see some of the other grand hotel/casino's.
We walked the strip several times and agreed that it takes a toll on ones legs and feet. From the Paris, you can easily walk to most of the Grandest casinos including Bally's, Bellagio, Aladdin, Monte Carlo, MGM, New York-NY, Caesars, Mirage Venetian, Treasure Island. There are a couple other, older ones not worth mentioning. Beyond what I consider "reasonable walking distance" is the Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, Rio, Palms and a few others. Also, The Hard Rock, Stratosphere and LV Hilton are completely off the strip.
SHOPPING:
The Paris offers numerous stores to shop in. Clothing, home decor, typical souveneirs, jewelery, and art. The stores are located along an indoor mall "Le Boulevard" with facades of Paris street shops and cobblestone street. There are also restaurants located throughout the mall. It is not a long mall, but offers much. This mall connects to Bally's where you can continue shopping in their modest mall with more shops and restaurants. No going outdoors in poor weather!
Located next door to the Paris is the Aladdin Hotel/Casino which has quite a large indoor shopping mall. It has many more shops and restaurants.
Finally, the Caesar's Forum Mall offers shopping for "high ticket" goods and trendy restaurants.
RESTAURANTS
The Paris and its mall about 10 restaurants. several are up scale and pricey. One Cafe offers full meals, one buffet offers a tremendous full buffet. Others are more quaint bistro's. We ate at Le Cafe = Good; Le Village Buffet = Excellent (may have to wait in line); Ortanique = Excellent (expensive, more for romance).
SPA: "Spa by Mandara"
There is a full service spa where I enjoyed a deep tissue massage. It was very well done. The locker rooms were full service with all ammenities. A full exercise room with numerous wall mounted TV's for viewing. It offers a modest selection of athletic wear and beauty products. Massages cost $90-$115.
CASINO:
I'm a slot machine gambler but also enjoy Roulet and Black Jack. I found there to be enough tables to find a game and plenty of slots.
Talking with a dealer he said that between June and September, finding a spot at a table is very difficult, That spring and fall are best times to come. I found cocktail service a bit lacking, infrequent while at the slots and tables. But I found this also at each casino I visited.
ATMOSPHERE:
The entire inside of the Paris is, of course, done in a French motiff. There are facades of Paris shops and buildings lining all the inner walls. Some are shops and restaurants, others only facades.
The Paris offers a 1/2 scale replica of the Eiffel Tower with an observation deck at 460' high. it also has a very posh restaurant that takes reservations only. The view is spectacular up and down the strip. Cost ranges from $7 to $12 depending on the day, children, Sr's.
It also has a modest scale replica "Arc de triumph" in the front of the hotel where passengers unload.
It has a heated pool that faces the strip with a view of the Eiffel Tower and Arc. We did not use it in December but it looks like a terrific arrangement and spacious.
OVERALL:
It was my first visit to the Paris and 8 years since I'd been back to Vegas. For all of the big Casino/Hotels there, many of which I visited, I would recommend the Paris as an all encompasing resort, in a perfect strip location. Oh yes, Elevators respond and move quickly. worth noting since many large hotels suffer from slow vators!
