| barthalkid's Full Review: Treasure Island At The Mirage |
I LOVE LAS VEGAS!
Around November of 2003, I had a chance to go back to sin city and stayed at the Treasure Island. I was a little worried at first because I hadn't visited TI more than 8 years ago. I got a special deal for a tower deluxe room plus 2 dinner buffets for only $65.
When I checked in, the lady at the counter tried to upgrade me to a suite again =D Unfortunately, they were all booked that night so she said she would put me in a VIP room instead. So I went to the VIP room. It was dark and I didn't see how VIP it was, so I went back downstairs. I told Christy, the lady who checked me in, and she immediately apologized and got me a room on the penthouse level with a great view of the strip. She told me she thought VIP rooms had more amenities. She also told room service to deliver a complimentary bottle of champaign.
This is why I love vegas =)
The room on the penthouse floor (36th) was so much better. The ceiling was about 1.5 times higher than regular rooms. It was more spacious than the VIP room, and brighter. It wasn't the best hotel room that I had stayed but it was very clean and comfortable. I liked the bathroom amenities like the massage soap and pomegranate shampoo, so when I saw the maid I told her to give me extra soap and shampoo. I tipped her and when i returned to my room that night, she had left 5 boxes of soaps and 4 bottles of shampoo. Also, she turned down my bed and left european chocolate on my pillow (I didn't think Treasure Island offer turn down service). But the moral of the story is, take care of people and they will take care of you!
I thought the slots were extremely loose for a strip casino. I saw many people hitting small jackpots here and there and I walked away with $300, my friend with $650 just on slots alone.
The only thing I would avoid at the hotel is the buffet. Although reasonably priced (It was complimentary for me, but priced at 14.99 for dinner), the food was terrible. The only good thing was the famous bread pudding, which was my entire dinner =D
Oh, I almost forgot, shows. My friends and I decided to watch Mystere last minute-literally, we got tickets an hour before the show. I talked to the lady at the ticket office and she told me that they only had a few rear seats left but after talking to her for a few more minutes, she told me to come back in 30 minutes and she'd take care of us. And she did! She gave us 6th row center aisle seats! The show itself was nothing compared to the other cirque du soleil show, O, but it was the experience with our seats that made it a whole lot better.
Overall, I had such a great time at Treasure Island. Great people and great staff. The hotel itself certainly wasn't the most luxurious hotel on the strip (and my favorite hotel is still the Mirage) but the special rate and great employees made my stay way exceeded my expectations!
Suggestion: Book their Expectation or Temptation packages. My package was the Expectation--how funny =)
