Great moderate Disney hotel that is missing *something*

The Bottom Line: Way better then off the park but not as wonderful as some of the other choices.

I have only stayed at CSR and the Wilderness Lodge but I have visited all of the deluxe resorts and many of the moderates.
As a kid we never stayed on the park so I have always wanted to stay on the park.
The CSR is HUGE as you may have heard. You just don't have that community feel like in the other properties.
Check in is typical Disney, very easy and pleasnat cast members. There is also a help desk located across from the check in area.
The CSR is also a convention center so you get a lot of "suits" and business people. Being a "suit" myself and having been to many a business meeting I prefer to get away from all this when on vacation. The LAST thing I want to be thinking about is work.
I will say the pool area is wonderful and the theming is great, one of the best at Disney.
My wife and I also found the food court area to have a great variety and be very convenient.
The rooms were a bit lacking in the "magic" department. There were some bright colors and subtle Mexican type decorations in the room but it was nothing special. The room wasn't much different then any room you could get at another hotel. It was very clean (as I expect from Disney) and the housekeeping was excellent. I would describe it as a no frills, slightly themed quasi-Disney room if that makes any sense.
The buildings are not nearly as well down as most of the other resorts, concrete and stucco. You can tell volume was key in building this complex.
All in all it was fine but didn't have the Disney magic of the other resorts. You just don't see a lot of kids excited to see Mickey, you see business people and tourists mixed together in a huge resort.
