Pros: kills germs
Cons: not totally mess proof
I have three kids ranging in ages from 6 to 21. We take hand washing very seriously in my home. Twenty dollars for a no touch hand washing system maybe seem like a lot to throw down, or even unnecessary in a home with only four people in it, but I take hand washing very seriously. I have an average six year old who touches everything, everyplace we go. Over the summer we have taken many trips to the grocery store, doctors offices, playgrounds and other places where germs can be found. That little girl has two pet rats whom she babies and handles all the time. She also has two dogs, and often plays outside and has probably made friends with every earthworm, frog, caterpillar and any other creepy crawly she can find. She is also at the age where she is able to take care of her own bathroom habits by herself, I just want to make sure she washes her hands well for her protection and for everyone else too.
Then you have my teenage son who has his friends over, and after they have been outside riding bikes, playing ball, and what not, they like to come in and handle the game controllers and play video games.
You then have my oldest child who is a cna and works at a hospital around sick patients all day long. You have me, who is susceptible of catching a cold at the very thought of a sneeze. I never get a common cold either, what my little one gets for a day or two seems like it takes me a month to get over. By the time you take one kid to the doctor, spend all of this money on prescriptions, co pays, cold medications, and gas driving back and forth, the next kids catches it, and it gets passed on down the line. I am usually the last one to catch whatever it is. Then the kids are feeling better, and it is normally a weekend, and we are stuck home with a sick mom instead of enjoying the weekend and getting out enjoying each others company. I dread the kids going back to school, because it never fails. I am hoping they don't miss much school this year. Hopefully we can at least keep some of the germs and bacteria out of the home this year and maybe spare some agony.
Lysol No Touch Hand Soap System
This system comes with everything you need in a kit. It comes with the no touch dispenser, the healthy touch antibacterial insert that pops right into the dispenser. There is a switch that you turn on, and will then be motion activated as you glide your hand under the sensor. A small amount of antibacterial soap will disperse, and you are then ready to wash your hands.
We get the Soothing Cucumber Splash Scent. There is a scratch and sniff tester on the outside of the package so you can test the scent out before you buy it. It isn't overbearing or overwhelming with perfume. It smells like cucumbers, and very fresh and clean smelling. I found it to be pleasant, and all of my children use this product too and I haven't had any complaints about the smell. The kit comes with 4 double A batteries in which you can replace, and also get replacement inserts of the antibacterial soap. I like the soap, it doesn't dry my hands out and even contains moisturizers and will kill 99 percent of the bacteria, and will help stop the spreading of bacteria which means hopefully we will have a better year this school year.
I have only two complaints with this system. One being the price, I wish they would come down on the price of the system and the inserts. Secondly, just because it is a no touch system does not always mean it is a no mess system. I have caught my six year old trying to put her hand under the sensor and try to move her hand away before the soap hits it. Almost as if it were a game. That was corrected, but not before making a nice mess. Sometimes though, the kids will go for the sensor, and then wash their hands and sometimes the sensor has a mind of its own, and will disperse on its own. I have one in the bathroom, and one in the kitchen. Normally it is the one in the kitchen that makes the most mess. I guess while washing dishes and such makes the sensor go off. It sort of scares me at times because I wasn't expecting it to go off. It does have an off switch, but that sort of defeats the purpose of it being touch less.
Overall, it is a keeper, and It gets a lot of use in my home. I wish it would come in some other color other than white, and an update on a new fragrance would be appreciated. I like a variety.
