Goo Be Gone - Remove Price Stickers, Glue, Grease, Gum - Goo Gone Gel

Pros:Gets the sticky, gooey, gunk off most anything.
Cons:Spray bottle is excessive for small jobs.
The Bottom Line: The product lives up to the manufacturer's claims.  It effectively removes gum and other sticky stuck on stuff.

Over the years, I’ve tried various different products and methods for removing sticky and stuck-on gunk; cotton ball with acetone nail polish remover, sudsy dish detergent, cleanser, etc.  But once I started using Goo Gone it quickly became my preferred product for removing sticky, gooey gunk.

When my 4 ounce bottle of regular Goo Gone Citrus Cleaner became brittle and cracked (it was old but still effective) I searched my local stores for a replacement.  Since I couldn’t find the small 4oz squeeze bottle or any small bottle, I resorted to buying what was readily available – Magic Goo Gone Spray Gel in the 12 ounce Spray Bottle.

Magic Goo Gone Spray Gel in the 12 once Spray Bottle

Goo Gone Spray Gel is a cleaning product that removes sticky, gooey, greasy residue from a wide variety objects.  The product is an orange colored liquid-gel that comes in a 12 ounce size spray bottle.  It has a mild citrus aroma that is not overbearing; unlike acetone, nail polish remover, or gasoline.

According to the manufacturer – Goo Gone is America’s #1 surface-safe remover! It can be used on various surfaces – glass, walls, cement, automobiles, and bottoms of shoes – without causing damage.

Goo Gone Spray Gel is capable of removing a variety of stuck-on sticky and gooey gunk such as; masking tape, stickers and labels, chewing gum, glue, grease, candle wax, crayon, and tar, bugs, and sap from automobiles.

Goo Gone Spray Gel should not be used on leather, rubber, silk, or any other delicate fabrics.

Using Goo Gone Spray Gel

I often use my Goo Gone Spray Gel for removing store price tag stickers and the accompanying sticky residue.  But since the spray bottle tends to release more product than I need, I usually use a cotton ball with the gel sprayed on it to remove the sticky stuff.  This is how I used to use the 4 ounce squeeze bottle of Goo Gone because it’s easier to control where the product goes.

I’ve also used Goo Gone Spray Gel for removing stuck-on chewing gum from the bottom of my shoes.  But again, I use the gel sprayed on to a cotton ball or paper towel.  I have tried spraying the gel directly onto the shoe but the over-spray reached part of the leather and left a grease-like stain which was permanent. So using a cotton ball, paper towel, or cloth allows for easier control of where the gel eventually ends up.

However, Goo Gone Spray Gel does have some advantages. The Goo Gone Gel formula doesn’t drip or run as much as the traditional Goo Gone which has a thin greasy liquid consistency.    When spraying the gel onto larger surfaces, the Goo Gone Gel is unlikely to quickly drip down onto the areas where you don’t want it to go.

Overall…

I’m pleased with the performance of Magic Goo Gone Spray Gel.  It does what it’s supposed to do. It does a great job at getting the sticky and gooey gunk off my store purchases, shoes, and anywhere else I use it.

The 12 ounce spray bottle provides a lot of product, more than I’ll likely need for the next few years.  If the Goo Gone was made available in a small squeeze bottle I’d prefer it to the larger size- just because I don’t use it a lot and a smaller size is easier to store.
