| jasonthodge's Full Review: Adbusters Magazine |
Fallability Principal in full effect. If your always right, don't read Adbusters. If your willing to challenge your beliefs about culture, media, and everything you hold dear this is where it all comes together.
I started reading adbusters 4 years ago and now it has become a staple of my intellectual diet. I don't always agree with what it says but no other publication challenges our media culture with such force and authority. Issues such as the WTO, Culture Commercialization, Third world exploitation, are explored and exposed in each issue.
Best of all a bit of camp and satire help bring it home with a humorous punch. Plus the design is some of the best I've ever seen.
Disclaimer
DO NOT READ ADBUSTERS IF YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE ALWAYS RIGHT. Erasmus says that human knowledge is fallible and not self evident. If you choose not to accept this principal than you limit your ability to learn and teach. Basically, go into every argument willing to accept that your position is wrong, then you will always be closer to the truth. Adbusters will challenge your beliefs and the pillars on which they are built. It may change your life, add credence to your beliefs, or you may think it's all tripe, but if you're trying to learn, this is a great place to start.
