| bmrs's Full Review: Adbusters Magazine |
It's a trippy magazine, at the cross-section of art, capitalism and humor; the articles are concise, yet comprehensive; it is most famous for spoofing ad campaigns (hence the title) by major corporate entities and has won awards, etc..
The photography and design is first class (check out the Autumn, 1999 issue, No. 27);
With a $5.75 newsstand price, it is not cheap (it is only published once per quarter); however, it is timeless, definitely a collectible and looks good stacking up on your coffee table - a lot of people don't know about it, so it makes for great conversation.
It is published by a sort of green-party-ish nonprofit organization, so some people might be turned off by its openly declared agenda; but I wouldn't classify it as being biased any more than all the other mainstream publications owned by the same media empires that Adbusters makes fun of.
If Mad Magazine and The Nation had a child together, this is what it might look like.
