If you enjoy Turtle & Humpty Dumpty magazines add Thomas & Friends to that list.
My nephew, Aiden, is a huge Thomas fan so he was very excited when he got his first Thomas & Friends magazine in the mail. Besides that obvious excitement of simply "getting mail" he was very excited that it was "Thomas" mail.
Now, I don't want to sound like I am bragging, but my Aiden truly is a very intelligent child. He loves to learn. This magazine is composed of stories, activities, games, coloring pages, and the Information Station.
~The Stories~
Generally the stories teach a lesson. In addition to that reading with children and having them read along helps them recognize words and learn the spelling of words.
~The Games and Activities~
There are several simple activities for your children to have fun doing. In the June/July issue there is a counting activity. Across two pages there are pictures of things that Thomas sees as he goes through the country and town and your child is asked to count how many of each thing Thomas sees. ( 5 chickens, 3 trees..).
Then on the next page there is a picture, across the bottom of the page are smaller pictures of things that appear in the larger picture that your child is asked to find. On another page your little one is asked to pick out the picture that does not belong (A sheep appears in a row of cows...). You and your child will also have fun with mazes, connect the dots, matching games, and much more.
~The Coloring Pages~
There are a few coloring pages featuring Thomas himself.
~The Information Station~
This is located on the very last page and most likely more for the parents. It is a list of several different places where you can have a day out with Thomas.
