| roynyr's Full Review: Beckett Baseball Card Magazine |
I have a huge collection of baseball cards, numbering about 25,000 all together. All though I do not collect as avidly as I once did due to the incredibly high costs of cards now and a general lack of time, I still will purchase the Beckett Baseball Card Monthly every couple of months just to keep track of my card prices. I think it is the preeminent source of cards prices in the industry and it is a very trustworthy magazine which is an accurate guide of prices for buyers and sellers alike. Although I am not an active buyer now, I like to look through it to get an idea of how my favorite cards are being priced ( including my most prized baseball card of all a 1966 Mickey Mantle card in nearly mint condition purchased back in 1984 at the price of only five dollars - what a bargain as today that Mantle it is priced at nearly two hundred dollars).
The reason I am not as active a collector today is really twofold. First, the prices. I see most stores now charge over $2.00 a pack you have got to be kidding me - when I first started collecting cards ( man that sounds old) back in 1978 I could buy a pack of 15 cards for twenty five cents!. Second time does not permit the dedication necessary which youth afforded me. Life is not fair like that.
The Beckett Baseball Card Monthly is a really good magazine. It provides prices from different manufacturers, including Topps, Donruss, Fleer, Upper Deck, and many others. It goes back to cards from the 1950's and shows you price rangesfor good condition cards and mint condition cards. But the magazine is more than just prices. Articles about trends in baseball card collecting are included. A feature is usually in there about a star player. It gives you lists of hot players and those that there are cold in the industry. It is the most comprehensive source out there.
Give Beckett Baseball Card Monthly a try if you are a baseball card collector looking for that ultimate resource in this field.
