| poneyby's Full Review: Beckett Football Card Magazine |
Beckett price guides have been around longer then any other and are the most reliable and used pricing guides in the hobby. I have been collecting cards since the 70's most of them are football cards. I buy this magazine about twice a year.
Beckett Football Card Monthly has more then the price guide. Short Prints gives you news and notes from around the hobby world. In this section they open a box of cards and go in depth of what they receive in that box. They let you know how many inserts they pulled and even what pack of cards was the best of the box. They also talk about cards they feel will go up in value and players who may have breakout seasons. They highlight a collector who pulled a very rare insert in each issue.
Readers Write is the section where they post e-mail or letters from readers. They answer questions on single cards and sets people have and questions they have on the price guide itself. Also in this section they highlight one collector and tell you what he/she collects and a little about him/her.Single Spotlight highlights information on one card of a player each month. Letting you know how the cards price has changed through the years and how much potential the card has for the future.
The Hot List gives you the top 20 most wanted cards in the hobby. They also give you a little information on each player on those cards.
Market Watch gives you some details on how football card market is doing. They let you know the top 5 selling card sets by hobby dealers. They also give you information on players who are moving well in hobby shops.
My favorite part of course though, and the reason to buy this is for the price guide. They give you hi and lo values of cards from as far back as 1948 up to current releases. They also let you know the odds of pulling an insert card from the boxes. They give you a small black and white photo of each of the different types of cards. They price the cards and inserts of the hottest players and also let you know the value of the common player cards.
Beckett has set the standard in price guides for many years. Hobby dealers and collectors look to Beckett for value of there cards and sets.Even some of there issues have become valued collectables as they always have top notch photos of players on the covers. If you are a collector and want to know the value of your collection this is the magazine to get.
KEEP SMILING :)
