| KCFemme's Full Review: Biography Magazine |
Ever since I married my husband I have found a lot of new magazines that I have become interested in that I never knew existed. Between him and his parents, I'm almost convinced they read everything.
Biography is one of those magazines that I had never heard of until we visited his parents and she handed him a stack of magazines to take home. One of them was the issue that featured Sean Connery. Now there is a magazine worth looking into. :-)
So that night I headed off to bed and grabbed the magazine to take a look at. Have to have something to read before shutting off the lights after all.
I automatically flipped to his article. It was lengthy, telling about his life, his career and his interests. There were quite a few things I had never known about that I found very interesting.
So now every few months when we get our little stack of magazines that are being passed on, Biography is one that I tend to look at first. They tell about the person behind all the paparazzi. Not just who is dating whom. Instead of hitting on the gossip, they tell the real life history of our favorite stars.
Well, not just our favorite stars. They also tell the stories about every day people that do out of the ordinary things. They have pictures that you may never have seen before. And they tell about the places that became the lives of some. One issue tells about the life of Queen Elizabeth I of England and also focuses on the places that she favored. These include the Tower of London, Windsor Castle, Westminster Abbey, and Shakespear's Globe Theatre to name a few.
But not only did they tell about her life, they also told about those that portrayed her life in theater. They showed pictures of her, and of the women that played her in movies
As for those "real people" that go out of their way to do something extra-ordinary, this comes up in the Heroes section. In the issue I'm looking at, they talk about Rob Young. Never heard of him? Well there are a lot of Native American's that know who he is. He worked hard (as a volunteer) to help create housing for poverty-stricken Native Americans.
Biography magazine is definitely worth reading if you are interested in human interest stories. It's nice to be able to read the truth about some of your favorite actors. Find out how they got started. And the things "off-stage" that truly inspire them.
