Back from the Hamptons or the Cape and looking to make all those great meals that you had while you were out there? Bon Appetit is your food and entertaining magazine. Each issue is a combination of recipes, life style stories, restaurant and travel reviews, and several different departments offering news and information on the food and entertainment world. The magazine offers a decidedly upscale take on the food and entertainment world and some readers have probably never experienced, or will likely experience. But it is always nice to dream and who knows, you may be somewhere and you need to know six different ways of preparing tomatoes.
Bon Appetit is published 12 times a year and an average subscription runs around $15, and most strangely (Ive never seen this on a subscription price before), you will be charged an additional $3 for postage and handling, bringing the price up to about $18 for a one year subscription. Right now, Bon Appetit is advertising 24 issues (2 years) for $24 and $6 postage and handling (so just over a $1 an issue).
Features
Each issue of Bon Appetit is made up of several feature articles and stories, which are broken down by their contents, of which, there are generally collections of recipes with a bit of background and story behind the recipes, 2 or 3 stories about entertaining and the home (along with recipes in those stories) and 2 or 3 more articles on traveling and restaurants (once again with more recipes). The latest issue focuses around summer meals and entertaining and thus the recipes are for simpler and lighter (but still fancy) fare and the entertaining articles center around planning your own summer parties.
Departments
Each issue is also made up of several different departments that provide some quick stories, recipes, tips and tricks, among other things.

So Should I get this magazine?
Do you love cooking? Are you looking for new and interesting recipes? How about new ideas for entertaining guests?
If you are looking for any of these things, then Bon Appetit is worth picking up. If you are really interested in food and entertainment, I think that Bon Appetit is well worth the subscription price. I personally do not have a subscription; I pick it up once every couple of months (mostly because I do not have the time to really enjoy these recipes or take on the entertaining ideas but believe me, I have grandiose plans for a dinner party at some point).
The magazine is well written, clear and to the point, with great photography and proves to be a great resource for the aspiring socialite, or anyone who is merely interested in expanding their food and entertainment repertoire. So go out and get yourself an issue, put on an apron, and start tearing up the kitchen!
