Pros: Made by kids for kids. Covers a variety of current topics.
Cons: Sound quality is poor. Kid-perspective isn't always desirable.
The Bottom Line: Try a sample issue before paying for a complete subscription. The quality and content might not be good enough for your money and/or family.

| mrsquiet's Full Review: Boomerang! Magazine |
I actually dread the arrival of our Boomerang subscription. My 10-yr old son, however, loves to listen to it.
The concept is unique and has great potential. The magazine comes on a cassette tape, and is narrated primarily by children. There are a variety of feature articles including an interview with a historical figure (Rosa Parks, The Elephant Man, Daniel Boone), jokes, advice on dealing with adults, editorials (on the Harry Potter controversy), and other stories. Subjects cover history, science, economics, current affairs, and more.
Two things frustrate me most. First is the poor recording quality. I have to turn the volume down on one article, and then up on the next to be able to hear the voices. More annoying are the children's opinions. I try to give leeway--it is by kids for kids--but there has been at least one instance in each issue where I have had to point out inappropriate attitudes or comments to my children.
If you choose to subscribe to Boomerang, I suggest listening to it either before or along with your children to assist with any concerns about content.
