Every month for the last year I've gotten a new magazine, and I have yet to feel like I've truly benefitted from the knowledge I've gained from any of them.
The September issue is the perfect example. It rated Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The reviews were comprehensive, but failed to cover DSL providers. In my house, as in many others, we have a high-speed connection, so the article was useless.
Unfortunately, that's not the only time I've felt CR has overlooked important facets of a product. Don't get me wrong - Consumer Reports is serving an important purpose, and if I were buying a car, I'd probably run out and buy the auto issue first thing! I just wouldn't hand over the check for another 12 issues.
