The first time I learned about scrapbooking I heard of the Creating Keepsakes magazine. I found it in a local store at the price of $4.95. My first thought was it is expensive, but looked interesting and thumbed thru it at the counter. I wondered why would I need such a magazine for this new proclaimed hobby. The more I looked at it the more I thought I could do without the magazine. I actually put down that issue and went on. The thing that convinced me to purchase it a couple of months later was the website listings in the ads. Being new to scrapbooking and on the web I wanted more information and figure it would be the only time I ever needed to purchase it. That is not the case any longer I look for the magazine at the first hint of when it may make it on the shelves.

I enjoy having the magazine to read cover to cover. I can say I don't read it just once, but refer to back issues often. It is packed with many layout ideas some not to my style, but still can be useful. I have picked selection from certain layouts and used them for my own. The magazine can be used as a tool in aiding layout blocks, you can almost always find a title, a new way to use a diecut, or some great sticker art. Sometimes I have even created a pose to make a layout for ideas I had never thought of. Although I have never completely copied a layout I have used many parts of them for suggestions. I like being able to have fresh ideas at hand when I am searching for them. I have even enjoyed and gained numerous ideas from the advertisements listed so I feel they can be helpful not in just showing a new product.
Yes there are other magazines out there with scrapbooking contents and I also collect them as well. I like each one for its own style just like I have my own style. I would recommend looking at the magazine as a guide to aid in your layouts.
