An avid crochet-a-holic, I am always on the lookout for new patterns. While perusing the magazine racks at a local department store, I came across Crochet Fantasy. Upon skimming the contents, I immediately fell in love with it. What's so great about Crochet Fantasy? How is it different from the rest of the crochet magazines out there?
1. Full-colour Photographs
For every pattern listed there a beautiful colour photograph to show you exactly what the finished piece will look like. From these pictures, you can get a real feel for texture, complication of designwork, and size. It is also much easier to follow a pattern when a picture is available because it helps give you an idea whether you've made any silly errors along the way.
2. Many Patterns to Choose From
Most magazines only give you a handful of patterns (usually around 5). Crochet Fantasy includes the double that. With a wider range of patterns to choose from, you are sure to find something to please. The types of patterns range anywhere from toys to blankets to clothing and accessories. And each pattern is labelled according to difficulty level, letting you know beforehand whether you will be able to complete the project with the skill level you've mastered.
3. Trendy Patterns
Ninety-nine percent of the patterns I've found were designed prior to 1990. As fast as fashion changes, I prefer having patterns that meet today's trendy fashion sense, especially if I intend to give the finished project as a gift. Every issue of Crochet Fantasy is packed full of patterns that meet those trends.
4. Price
At $4.95 per issue, this magazine is a bit costly. However, if you invest in a yearly subscription, the price is cut in half, making it much more economical.
Bottom Line
Crochet Fantasy is really a fantasy come true for those of us addicted to the art of crochet. Since finding it, I haven't missed an issue and have found something wonderful in each one. If you haven't tried it, I'd suggest picking up a copy today. You won't want to miss it.
