Pros: The best source for non-credulous treatment of extremely weird stuff around
Cons: Wish each issue were thicker, or it came out more frequently...
The Bottom Line: If you're a fan of peculiar occurrences and the generally weird, Fortean Times is for you.

| stonemirror's Full Review: Fortean Times Magazine |
Fortean Times is to magazines like Fate like the New York Times is to the Weekly World News: it treats its subject matter seriously, yet skeptically. The subject matter is, generally speaking, the sort of thing that raises eyebrows among that portion of the population closer to the center of the bell curve: recent issues have delved into premature burial, deadly UFO encounters, and of course the ever-popular sea-serpents, yetis and other cryptozoological creatures.
Fortean Times, named after Charles Fort, turn-of-the-century recorder of rains of fish, poltergeists and other odd occurrences, is pretty much the sole entry worth reading in a field of odd stuff. If you grew up, as I did, reading books like Frank Edwards' Stranger than Science by flashlight under the covers, the Fortean Times is for you.
I do not use this magazine for planning my diet or personal exercise program.
