Try this --- Buy a copy of this magazine. Then go through it and tear out all of the advertisements. Look at the stack of advertisements compared to the amount of information and see which stack is larger. It will be the advertisement stack!
This is my major complaint about this magazine - too many advertisements. I would be willing to pay twice as much for this magazine it it were advertisement free. I sometimes feel like I am paying someone for letting me look at their advertisements!
Aside from the advertising, this is an excellent magazine. The magazine has many useful articles for modelers of all levels. It is well illustrated and photographed.
I have always enjoyed looking at and reading about the individual/club layouts that are showcased in the magazine. When I find a "how-to" article that intrests me, the instructions are generally easy to follow.
In summary - The magazine is great IF you can ignore the excess advertisements.
