Pros:basic advice, the last word cracks me up. some useful articles.
Cons:wayyyy to many ads,
The Bottom Line: It is not worth the money unless you are looking for a cosmo type magazine on parenting with more ads
This magazine is disapointing in many ways. First thing that strikes you when flipping through it is there are more ads than content (or it appears that way).
There are usually cartoonie illustrations in the magazine which really amuse me. (I do not know a single woman who dresses up in a mini-skirt and pretty blouse and heals to spend the day chasing her kids lol.)
of the actual photos, many of them are as unreal as the illustrations I just described.
Also being a breastfeeding mother, a member of the la leche league and a lactivist, I couldn't help but notice all the formula ads and pictures of happy babies sucking on bottles. Breastfeeding as a means of baby feeding is largely ignored. (Direct advertising of breastmilk substitutes is in direct violation of the WHO code for the marketing of breastmilk substitutes which the USA belatedly signed off on several years ago and haven't really done anything to make the code enforcable in this country as of this date)
I would probably say that the only thing I really like about this magazine is a feature called The Last Word near the end of the magazine which has some funny content like " a toddler's dream day" or "ten surprises of parenthood".
there are too many ads and the content isn't worth sorting through them. The featured pics are contrived (exept where they show "real" people) and breastfeeding is largely ignored.
