Pros: Great recipes! You'll reach for this magazine time and time again.
Cons: Price is high, you're better off subscribing.
The Bottom Line: If you're a mom like me who barely has time to comb her hair, then this is the cooking magazine for you.

| deeann70's Full Review: Quick Cooking Magazine |
I received a sample issue of Quick Cooking with my daily pile of junk mail. I decided to look through it and was pretty impressed with the recipes that I was seeing. Everything was quick and easy to make. I found myself reaching for that sample issue more and more. In each issue, there are recipes for Appetizers and snacks, beverages, breads and rolls, breakfast and brunch, desserts and cookies. There are also recipes for main dishes which consist of chicken, beef, pork and seafood to name a few. You're probably looking at a minimum of 100 recipes per issue.
The great thing about this magazine is that it doesn't call for exotic ingredients that will send you to specialty stores looking for "Eye of Newt!" Mostly everything the recipes call for will be right there in your pantry.
There are recipes that for meant for bread machines, crock pots and pressure cookers. I must say, the recipe for the Sour Cream Chive Bread was delicious. I have a bread machine and have only used the recipes that came with the instruction book but none of them compare to this bread. The bread machine recipe book had breads that tended to be on the dry side by the next day. This one was still nice and soft a day later. Here's the recipe for anyone that would like to give it a try:
Sour Cream Chive Bread
2/3 cup milk (70 to 80 degrees)
1/4 cup water (70 to 80 degrees)
1/4 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
3 cups bread flour
1/8 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 minced chives
2-1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
In bread machine pan, place all ingredients in the order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and load size if available. Bake according to bread machine directions (Check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed). Yield: 1 load (1-1/2 lbs.)
Not all recipes come with nutritional information. I believe this magazine is more geared for people who want to have a meal on the table fast. If you're looking for light meals, you may want to try their other magazine "Light and Tasty."
The price is a little high. $3.99 for one issue. I received a better deal by subscribing for the rate of $19.98 for two years. I think they wanted $12.98 for one year. You can also check out their website at www.quickcooking.com where they have favorite recipes from past issues and subscribe for a free email newsletter and link to the sister publications LIGHT & TASTY and TASTE OF HOME.
I have tried different cooking magazine but this is my favorite. I can honestly tell you that I have tried many of these recipes and have yet to find one that I don't like.
