Red Herring has lots of glossy advertisements and many of the articles spin a lot of hype. This seems to compromise the credibility of the magazine. In this sense, it's a lot like network or cable television news, blowing smoke and applying lots of gloss. Showing blood and guts and people crying but not enough analysis. I do, however, enjoy the way they track tech stocks. IPO watch is a nice feature. Not much to track at this point, but their spreadsheet style is valuable and easy to read. You need to wade through a lot of advertising to get there. Psychologically, it's also valuable because you get an insight into the superficial sides of technology. If you're a marketing type you may want to grab it. Good points and bad points.
