Redbook Magazine: Topics for Ladies at Great Price

Written: Jul 14, 2012
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Good variety of articles and topics at low subscription price!
Cons:Drug ads that take up two pages.
The Bottom Line: A nice magazine for women of all ages with lots of variety!

Redbook Magazine is one of the few magazines that I have subscribed to for years.  The magazine contains a variety of topics and articles geared for women of all ages, whether single or married.

Redbook Magazine
Redbook Magazine is published monthy by Hearst Communications, Inc. You can pick up a copy on the newsstand for $3.99 an issue or subscribe to the magazine for $8.00 a year, which is less than $1.00 an issue.  You can get even better deals if you subscribe for multiple years, 2 years for $10.00 and 3 years for $15.00.

The content of Redbook Magazine contains a variety of subjects and articles each month.  They cover fashion, beauty, travel, food, tips for moms, home decorating, love, sex, marriage, hobbies, family fun, and budgeting advice.

While some of these topics are endless, others seem to have the same things rehashed as time goes on.  Thankfully, the magazine has enough variety to overcome this when it does occur in the magazine and doesn't become a bore to long time readers and subscribers.

I also like the fact that Redbook Magazine features well known celebrities for cover features and articles.  Most of the time these articles are interesting and you find out a little bit about the normal life of a star.

One of my favorite aspects of Redbook Magazine are the travel articles.  The destinations chosen to be highlighted in the magazine are usually affordable for "normal" families and not some far out destination that costs thousands of dollars for just one person.

I also enjoy the fashion articles, as they not only cover business and formal attire, but also casual wear for the everyday woman.

Now that I've told you about the things that I love about Redbook Magazine, lets talk about the negative aspect.  The main thing I do not like in Redbook Magazine are the ads for prescription drugs.  These ads often take up two pages of tiny print that I would have to strain to read.  It's bad enough having to listen to these commercials on television, let alone take up space in a magazine.

There are also numerous other advertisements in the magazine, but alas, this is how they make the most of their money.

Overall, I think Redbook Magazine is a good read for the modern woman.  It has a variety of articles and topics each month that are usually interesting.  It is definitely one of the better magazines for women on the market and at a great price.
