Trendiness:
Pros:Posters, articles, priced just right
Cons:nothing really.
The Bottom Line: Just a great teenage magazine..
John Schneider, Scott Baio, Billy Idol, & Motley Crue.. That was just one edition in 1981 that Tiger Beat magazine was putting out, that of course I had to have. In fact, I had to have every Tiger Beat magazine that came out through the years of 1980-1985. After all I had to change the decor in my room sometime. And the posters in Tiger Beat made that possible, and cheap...
Now it's 2001, and Tiger Beat is basically the same. The only difference is now the stars are, Britney, Nsync, & Backstreet Boys. The price has gone up a few pennies from .99 cents, and the posters are bigger.
I can say that when I buy a Tiger Beat magazine for one of my girls, I can be at ease that the content is not purely focused on older teenagers. Tiger Beat focuses on all young adults. There is something for everyone. There are even ads that sway them away from drug usage and smoking. Which is a great idea considering children read it.
If your kids are like I was as a teenager, their probably going to want every issue of Tiger Beat magazine that comes out, which is every week. Your best bet would be to get a mail subscription then. And in order to do that, you have to buy the magazine and get one of those postcards that they stick everywhere in the book. The price is $20.00 for 6 months. At least that is what I was paying.
As for the content, the content is great. There are pictures, pictures, and even more pictures of celebrities. Then there is the posters.. How I loved the posters.. I couldn't wait to get them home and hang them up... My wall was so covered you couldn't even tell what color paint I had.. But the posters are the greatest.. One thing I wish they had changed was the two-sided posters. Sometimes I couldn't pick which side I liked more : {
The articles are intended for children. There is no sex talk, or sex questions like you will find in Teen magazine. Basically it targets the younger teen, between 11-15. Some articles can be for the more mature, but basically it sticks to the youngins.. Which is a rare find these days..
As for the overall magazine.. All I can say is I have great memories of Tiger Beat. It was a big part of my weekend life when I was young. I have nothing bad to say about them, nor will I ever.
But I can say that this is the magazine that kids should get when they want the scoop on their favorite stars.. Period.
Take Care & Peace
