| Ronboy's Full Review: USA TODAY Baseball Weekly Magazine |
So, you're a baseball fan too? I'm pleased to make your acquaintance, but I'm pretty sure you're here to figure out if you want to spend your money on Baseball Weekly. So, what do I think of this publication? It is the ultimate guide for baseball lovers and stat keepers. It is also remarkably expensive, I'm sure it's because of its ties to USA Today. Only a true baseball fan would love a magazine like this and I am that type of fan, but I'm not going to spend that type of money for a publication of this length.
I can easily go on the internet and keep up to date with all my favorite ball clubs and ball players, I can also keep in touch with my minor league affiliates. That, in effect, makes this publication entirely useless. Why do I need to buy a magazine like this for the amount they're asking when I can save myself a lot of money printing out all the daily statistics myself.
This is a magazine that doesn't really provide you with anything the true baseball fan isn't already aware of. The stats in this magazine are a week behind schedule, so really I don't even want to waste my time with this. I'm sure you probably feel the same way.
The final four or five pages of this publication are dedicated to its advertising section, which is far and away the worst part of this magazine. Why would I want to see mail order brides and equipment ads? Neither one of these mean anything to me as many of the ads in this publication are equally meaningless.
All in all, this is a good magazine for the baseball fan that is too lazy to do the work for himself or are too busy to keep up to date with their favorite teams and players.
Save your money, if at all possible, and look for your information on the net. If not, then go ahead and pay for this information. I, personally, do think spending $1.50 per issue on a publication that is shorter and costs more than your local newspapers is ridiculous.
I hope this helps make your decision a lot easier.
