| joeythea's Full Review: USA TODAY Baseball Weekly Magazine |
If you want your baseball fix at any time of the year, then USA-Today Baseball Weekly is just the thing for you. The newspaper-format magazine is delivered in a timely fashion so as not to put the reader behind during the season and continues to provide top-notch coverage throughout the off-season so you can follow your favorite teams all year long.
The magazine features editorial-type articles that do not talk down to the baseball fan. Each issue features a type of player or team during the season or a major issue of the sport during the off-season. There is information on every team in every issue plus box scores and major statistics brought up to date each week. Information and stats about the minor leagues is available although most of the stats are the best players in AAA and AA leagues. There is information about fantasy baseball that, thankfully, doesn't take away from the real sport. A Clubhouse page helps young aspiring ballplayers with tips and interviews with the stars plus an ongoing contest for individuals and classes throughout the year.
The main drawbacks to the publication is that it does not devote enough space to the kids or to reader feedback or opinions. A section on baseball history would also be nice. However, these are minor drawbacks from this fan's point of view. If you want more information on minor league baseball, try Baseball America which is another top-notch publication.
This is a great magazine for the baseball fan. If you subscribe, watch for special offers where you can get their annual for free when you subscribe although you may have to ask. I would rate it at 4 1/2 stars.
