| ryanpsims's Full Review: Wallpaper* Magazine |
Wallpaper is what surrounds us in our daily life. What an appropriate title for a magazine that takes on the world of architecture, design, fashion, food and travel. All with a very swiss, very norwegian, very clean aesthetic.
Some of the big pluses of Wallpaper are it's worldwide coverage of design and travel. It can be an exotic dish, a new modernist exhibit in Stockholm, even the Sony Metreon in San Francisco... Wallpaper covers it all with some of the best photojournalism, the best models and knowledgeable reviewers. Also, Every issue comes with a slick pullout city guide of a recommended destination. And, if you're itching to throw a holiday bash, lookout for the upcoming Fall issues, they're always packed with off kilter ideas. Try the cranberry jelly with a splash of vodka with that Turkey.
However, over the years Wallpaper has gotten fatter with advertising. It seems that its harder to find it's content these days. Also, as other reviewers have noted, it has always been cheaper to buy the magazine in the stores than get a subscription at $70US.
If you can't afford the lifestyle of a jet setting traveler, Wallpaper is about the next best thing at the 6.95US cover price.
