XXL is probably the best hip hop magazine around. The Source is the best known, but XXL has surpassed it in terms of actual hip hop flavor. XXL isn't as commercialized as the Source and it kills Blaze in terms of content. They have great features and it usually isn't the same old story that we already know. Basically they don't have to do crappy stories just to fill space.
My favorite part of the magazine is the beginning. If you've ever read their basketball magazine, they start with some short stories and quick humor. XXL is no different. It's a great way to open a magazine.
Also, they don't always go with the hottest artists. Martin Lawrence for instance was untouched by the major magazines because of his off the screen problems. However, XXL stayed true to their self and ran him as the feature. I give them major props for that.
The only problem I have with it is that there are only 10 issues a year. Sometimes you'll have to wait 6 weeks to read the next issue and the waiting sucks.
If you only buy one hip hop mag a month, get this one.
