User Rating: Excellent
Pros:Cute doll, fresh face, easy to pose and get out of the box
Cons:Hard to find, price
The Bottom Line: With her bunny by her side Chelsea is ready for her Dreamland
It seems as if Mattel decided to give Barbie's baby sister Kelly a break. After Kelly disappeared in 2010 her place was taken surprisingly by a slightly older girl named Chelsea in 2011. I'm not sure why Mattel decided to change Barbie's little sisters but that's something I never know. Initially I didn't like the looks of the new doll but where's just something about some of them. I think this one provokes nostalgia for a child who had Barbie dolls in the 90's.

Chelsea arrives packaged like any other basic doll from the Barbie line in a small rectangular box. Hers is hot pink with a window display to show off the doll. The box has a cartoon-style drawing of Barbie with her four sisters (Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea) all over it and a photo of Barbie's face on the front. The doll can be kept in-box or de-boxed depending on preference. If you choose to de-box her you may easily end up destroying the box so be careful. The doll is relatively easy to free, just open the box, slide out the insert and snap off (or cut off using small scissors) the few clear rubber bands at her arms, legs, waist and hair and you're good to go.
Chelsea appears to be about 6 or 7 years old and stands about an inch taller than regular Kelly dolls (she is about 12.5 cm while regular Kelly was 10 cm or 4 inches tall). She has basic joints at the shoulders and hips allowing for her to sit and move her arms up and down. This version has a permanently bent at an elbow arm that allows her to hold something close to her. She has a fresh face, waist-length blond hair held off her face with a small side ponytail and arrives dressed in a purple-violet nightgown that has Velcro closure on the back, flesh toned underpants and pink plastic slippers. In her bent arm she holds a blue plastic bunny with closed eyes. She reminds me a little of Barbie's New Baby Sister Kelly set where Kelly came dressed in pink frilly pajamas and also had a hot pink bunny toy only Chelsea does not come with any type of bed or extra outfit. She will however fit in some of the fashions from older Kelly dolls and can even wear some of the shoes as her feet are flat and not much bigger.
This doll appears to be a basic doll with only an outfit and a few accessories. They are:
~Pink Slippers-tiny slippers that slid off rather easily
~Bunny-blue plastic bunny as her bedtime companion
Both things are small and can pose a chocking hazard. However if you take them away the doll is relatively safe for young kids since where's not much else to get hurt by or choke on.
I will recommend this doll as a good basic play doll that requires lots of imagination or as a good basic collectible especially if you love to debox and pose the dolls. The only negative thing about her is her price as it varies between $6 and $12 and the fact that she is hardly available in stores and mostly online meaning you'd have to pay shipping plus the price.
