The Green Lantern universe has been in prominence of the last few years with exciting bold storylines and fascinating new characters. Somehow Sinestro has always been in the center of the action. When he formed his new Sinestro Corps, the universe actually started to tremble in fear and the Green Lantern Corps had its hands full with these multiple yellow ring bearers. Two of its most prominent members is part of the DC Universe Action League collection with Arkillo and Sinestro.
Arkillo is the drill sergeant of the Sinestro Corps, the counterpart to Kilowog of the Green Lantern Corps. He is massive in size and tough as nails. The only difference, other than serving evil, is that he he finds you too weak to be in the group, he will consume you. His body is twice as wide as the other figures making him an imposing figure. He comes across looking like a combination of a hairless gorilla and a walrus. His face is terrifying with his wide-open mouth ready to eat you if you don’t do your job. He does a great Venom impression with his fang-filled teeth and long tongue. He is outfitted in a standard Sinestro Corps uniform that is yellow and black complete with a silver belt and gold wristbands. His massive hands showcases the feared yellow power ring with the Corps’ symbol stamped onto it and his chest. He’s a fantastic looking figure with four-points of articulation on his neck, shoulders and waist.
Sinestro gets a remake shows off his Sinestro Corps uniform. I thought this would be a simple repaint job of the White Lantern Sinestro figure from Wave 1 but instead it’s an entirely different sculpt. The pose is very similar but this one just has a lot more attitude. It is mostly shown in his face and not obstructed by a mask at all, unlike the White Lantern version. I like the Sinestro Corps outfit and it shows that he is part of a team again. He is obviously smaller than Arkillo but he also seems just a tiny bit shorter than his White Lantern version. His pinkish skin tone is a bit more red and adds nice contrast to his yellow and black uniform. I like that he has yellow pupils set in his black eyes. It makes him both alien and menacing. He, too, has the basic four points of articulation.
At this point in the game, with this being Wave 4, I think accessories need to to come into consideration. This is a good time to introduce a yellow power battery lantern for both these characters even if it is permanently affixed in their hands. It would be nice to see something a bit different.
DC Universe Action League Wave 4 is one series that has flown under the radar. It’s been out but also one of the harder ones to locate. I think this is also the first wave that has only been seen exclusively at Toys “R” Us in what was once also available at other retail markets like Target. This is probably why many thought the series was over not realizing that it had a new home at the big toy chain. Arkillo & Sinestro definitely helps bring in more members to the team so poor Low doesn’t feel so lonely anymore. Now if Mattel will only make classic Sinestro in his blue outfit to complete his look.
