Yeah, and that last album they put out (Waiting For The Punchline) may have been their best material...but alas, it was too late and it flopped.
And Shelly, you don't suck...it's just that I don't get to rib the rock n roll lead chick very often, so I took advantage while I could. Take it as a friendly sign of affection. Homey.

I remember... (Reply to this comment)

...reading that this was one of the most returned albums of that year. Guess a lot of housewives bought it for "More Than Words" and, well you know what else is on here.
I saw these guys on their last tour, and the interplay between Bettencourt and then drummer Mike Mangini was one of the most amazing displays of musicianship I've ever witnessed. Flat-out badass.

Chopsy babe,
Another fine review, par usual (how do you keep 'em comin'? I can hardly find time to breathe these days), but a couple of nitpicky little things to mention...
1) "Bettencourts drums are loud, crazed, and nasty"... Uh, that's Paul Geary there, not Nuno...
2) It's Money (In God We Trust), not Homey. The printing on the album makes it a little hard to read, but if you listen to the lyrics, it will all make sense.
That's it...sorry to be a pain, but I know you would expect no less from me. I'm pleasantly surprised to see you reviewing this album...I used to love these guys way back when...
BTW...check out Nuno's solo disc, Schizophonic, it's really rather good and overall different than the Extreme stuff.
Cheers, etc., etc...

Shelly,
I've long adored these guys, though Nuno's solo efforts aren't up to what's offered here, and well-sampled on their compilation. Very nicely done!

Yup. The songs are credited to Cherone and Bettencourt....
:)
Thanks all for the comments.

Good writeup! (Reply to this comment)
by voxpoptart
Although i was disappointed to remember this isn't the one with "Rest in Peace" on it - their masterpiece to my mind, their Bohemian-Rhapsody-as-protest-song. But yes, a fine and strange band that i'd kind of allowed to fade in my mind as Gary Cerrone became first a Van Halen and then, for Boston Rock Opera, the worst Judas Jesus Christ Superstar ever saw.
Did Cerrone do Extreme's songwriting? If so, i'll have to remember him as talented after all.
cheers,
-Brian
