Thanks for your comment :) Of course, I agree...the band was certainly a landmark in rock music. I'm interested to see if the myth grows and the years progress.

I think you're absolutely right. GNR was a landmark band. So much so that I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard "Sweet Child". For the sake of my dignity, I won't reveal that little tidbit of rather embarrassing info here but I remember actually stopping everything that I was doing and just thinking "Wow! That sure was different!"

I just wanted to say thank you all for your kind comments. I love to get feedback, yet it seems that most of the time little is offered.
Thanks again.

this is by far my favorite G-n-R CD. I can still remember that video on MTV, during Paradise City, when that whistle blows and Axyl starts dancing, shirt off, all those tatoos, that hair flowing - wow! Talk about getting a warm fuzzy - grin
Great job, length was fine

Excellent Review, Shelly! (Reply to this comment)

This is one of the defining moments of 1989. Here I was listening to Tesla, Joe Satriani, Warrant, Winger, Great White and a bunch of bands my almost 40 year old friends couldn't stand, and out popped Guns n' Roses!
BTW, my favorite songs are Mr. Brownstone, (notice how amazingly different, lower natural register, Bailey's, oof, I meant Axl's voice is, real down and sleazy as he sings of Slash's drug of choice), and Rocket Queen, the first half of which is my favorite, as I remember seeing Rose bump and grind in his backless chaps.
Ahhh! So you see, in my opinion, this review needed to be longer, just to cover my other favorite song, which is so amazing, like a mini opera of angst.
Interesting, that after the grop broke up, and Slash went his way and Stradlin went his, it is the Rolling Stones and (Small) Faces work of Izzy that stands head and shoulders above Cousin It, I meant, Slash...
You rock, sister friend!

I Want This Album So Badly... (Reply to this comment)

but my mother things "Guns 'N' Roses" is a phrase used by Satanists (rolls eyes). If only "November Rain," "Knocking on Heaven's Door," and "Live and Let Die" were on it.
Anyways, good review Shelly, you fragile little flower you :-)

No love? (Reply to this comment)

for the Spaghettti Incident? And you call yourself a fan?!?!
Just kidding. I was a fan once, too, but like a cliche, they wasted all that talent on drugs. They could've/should've been one of the all time greats, but they blew it.
