I love Janis Joplin ... (Reply to this comment)
by patricknjacob
and I love your review too. I was born in '63, so I can remember all of this music. I have loved it since a small child.

PS: For the record, I was in high school when Lennon was shot.

You probably don't want to hear this. But I already did check out Screaming For My Supper. A while ago actually. And I wrote a review. it's not so positive though ;(.
Anyway, thanks for the comment Marsha. We can't agree on EVERYTHING can we? (J/K)

I love Janis, too, and the only singer I've found that even comes close to her power is Beth Hart. You might want to check out "Screaming For My Supper". Beth also toured the country singing as Janis, in the play "Love, Janis," based on the book compiled by Janis's sister. She's just awesome. I think you'd love her.
Nice job here, and great to remember Janis always.

My husband (he loves AC/DC) would be impressed. And since I loved the Scorpions as a kid I too am impressed. I should check it out. I'm certainly the same age as SOMEBODY.

I share the same birthday as Brian Johnson from AC/DC and Rudolf Schenker from the Scorpions.

Well. My fourth birthday was the day John Lennon died :)
Just seemed like the proper moment to say that...

Did you know I was born exactly one year and one day after Janis died?
Tis true!

I heard "Cheap Thrills"... It didn't thrill me that much.

You are very welcome. Cheap and great. What more could a music lover ask for.

One of the tragedies (Reply to this comment)
by rmthunter
of my musical life was the disappearance of all of my Janis Joplin LPs (which means all of Joplin's albums) -- no explanation ever found for that event.
Since I'm concentrating on "best of" albums for classic pop rather than duplicating my holdings on CD, this one goes on the list -- looks like it's got the songs I want.
Thanks.

Glad you like this one. I know Pearl is popular as is Cheap Thrills--maybe a toss up?
Thanks for the comment.

This was my very first CD! I love Janis. "Pearl" is her best album.
Great review.

I felt like I was the ONLY one who didn't feel Me and Bobby McGee was my favorite. Nice review. :)
