Re: Has nostalgia blinded my eyes to a bad album? (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for the comment, astute observations. I agree that there are albums out there that we all enjoyed so much as teens. This one is certainly among them. Maybe I was having a bad day when I wrote the review, but in any case it just doesn't touch me in the way in did those years ago.
Thanks again
Shelly.

Has nostalgia blinded my eyes to a bad album? (Reply to this comment)

"It's A Shame About Ray" was one of my favourite albums of my mid-teen years. I enjoyed the fact that in a time of bands producing outrageously different music that this was a laid-back, slightly quirky, mild departure from pop. I enjoyed the remake of Mrs. Robinson, and several other tracks that still stick in my head today.
Having recently purchased a CD to replace the tape I bought when it first came out, I thoroughly enjoyed every song again like I did many years ago.
Having read your review, though, I find it hard to strongly dispute any of your points (and as a side note, I hated the band's next release). I guess maybe this is one of those albums that, like an episode of Friends, really doesn't have too much to offer but can still be enjoyable.

Anything by Smashing Pumpkins rating above the Lemonheads? You will never convince me. Billy Corgan is arrogant and annoying and that whiny voice of his is worse than fingers on a blackboard. You gave good information about the product, but I can't take this review seriously, sorry!

I had bought and liked this album once, too. LOL Although I sold it off about a year later when I realised that I really didn't listen to any of the album but 2 songs: Mrs. Robinson and Frank Mills.
Frank Mills (if you didn't know) is a cover as well - from the musical Hair. (now I have the real musical score, so who cares?) LOL Thanks for steering folks away from this loser. :)

Gads, now I have to review this album, and I don't really want to.
About half the album is not that great, but the other half is pretty good, and considering some of the albums you have given more than one star, I really have to wonder.

The Lemonheads started out with some fun stuff like Hate Your Friends and Creator, but wound up just being pathetic. You seem to understand that quite well!
