thomas_hobbs's Full Review: 20 Exitos Originales de Los Angeles Negros by Los ...
On this disc you will find cheesy Latin romantic songs at their best. Los Angles Negros, hailing from Chile (I believe) were popular in the 60s and 70s. The songs are drenched in a very 1960s pseudo-psycadelic sound with primitive synthesizers and organs with an echoing sound that makes any of their songs immediately stand out from today's sterile production. On top of this German de la Fuente sings about Love's pain with a vocal style that would modestly be described as "completely over-the-top".
This music is not for everyone. But, if you're interested in hearing where romantic Spanish romantic pop has come from, or evoke that Austin-Powers-goes-south-of-the-border feeling, this is the place to start.
Stand out songs include "Como Quisiera Decirte", "Dejenme si Estoy Llorando" and the much covered "Y Volvere".
