skywarpii's Full Review: Complete Discography by Minor Threat
Even though some of the later tracks are weak compared to the other ones, this album rules!
For those of you not familiar with Minor Threat or Ian McKaye, they are the roots of all that is punk today(considering most punk today is terrible quiet stuff like MXPX and Get Up Kids, or poorly done hardcore like Hopesfall) that is hard to believe.
But Minor Threat is the reason punk exists in any form today...
after they split up Bad Religion and Fugazi rose from the ashes.
Minor Threat's music is fast and intense. The vocals take a few listens to become comprehendible but once they do, you can just about understand any vocalist in the _true_ punk or _good_ hardcore genres.
This CD is a must for anyone claiming to remotely like punk rock or hardcore!
The lyrics are intelligent comments on society, youth, and idenity...
This is the CD that made me who I am today! It literally did change my life and prevent me from becoming depressed during high school.
And for those who complain that fast power chords are simple and should be dismissed, I dare you to play them fast and as well as Minor Threat.
The best line on this CD is from the song "Minor Threat:"
"I might be an adult but I'm a minor at heart!"
