I do listen to The Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols and some Clash...
my point is that Minor Threat is the gap between the above bands and punk today.

Minor Threat really had little to do with the foundation of punk. If you want pure Punk roots, listen to the Sex Pistols, the Dead Kennedy's or The Clash. Minor Threat posed as a massive influence to the sXe Hardcore scene, and did a large part in inspiring much Pop-Punk/Hardcore you hear today (i.e. Pennywise, NOFX, Bad Religion...), but mainly served as one of the forefathers of Hardcore.
