The Boy Has Blue Genes

Pros:terrific guitar playing, great lyrics, love Ian's voice!
Cons:do people outside of Texas know about Ian??
Ian Moore is one impressive young man. I have been looking for him to be an epinions category since shortly after joining. He is a legend and hero in Austin, where my heart still is, as a singer/songwriter and guitar player extraordinaire. People in Texas love singer/songwriter/guitar player types - but this dude is amazing, in a Texas big way!
This is the first CD he made. Mine says the label is Capricorn and has a release date of 1993, so I don't know why this differs from the epinions blurb. Ian must have been only a teenager when this one was released, and the songs are his creations, sometimes co-written with other band members.
It is hard to believe the depth of experience this music expresses. He is a kick-ass guitar player and has a very bluesy feel to his music, but it rocks HARD. He knows about deeply loving and pleasing a woman ("All I want is to keep you satisfied"), and "How Does it Feel" tells it like it is - now that you left me and he left you. "Please God" is a track that I imagine was written about the pain of losing his mother - this album has a dedication to the memory of his mother on it. "Harlem" is an expression of the frustration about our inability to get along, accompanied by a throbbing beat.
I have seen Ian in concert many times, and my God, what a treat! He is a sexy and handsome guy (though I admit I liked his long hair best). He gets passionately involved in his performances and can really get down on that guitar and sing with penetrating emotion. I am not well versed in phrases to describe him and his kind of music, so I fear I am limited in my ability to tell you about his appeal. His lyrics are poetic and poignant and reveal an understanding and intelligence beyond his years.
My searches yielded no information about what Ian is currently up to, though he was moving away from Austin (I think he was headed for Utah)
in 1999. I would appreciate comments from anyone who is acquainted with Ian's whereabouts and activities.
"Modern Day Folklore" followed this CD and was another big hit in Texas, featuring the track "Muddy Jesus", which is both a seriously ripping rock tune and a clever modernized lyric about when "Jesus crossed the Rio Grande".
Try this one out, especially if you are a blues lover, a rocker or someone with a love of music that really reaches down deep.
