shannons's Full Review: A Partridge Family Christmas Card by The Partridge...
All I want for Christmas is David Cassidy under my tree
This is pure pop Christmas, 1970s-style. Who else would define pop music of the early 1970s better than The Partridge Family fronted by the unmistakable voice of David Cassidy. The original My Christmas Card to You kicks off the collection with a pleasant, feel-good holiday greeting (To you and all your family, your neighbors and your friends, May all your days be happy with a joy that never ends, May peace and love surround you, at Christmas time and all the whole year through ), followed by other well-known pop Christmas standards.
Unlike other Partridge Family albums where she is mostly a background singer, this one features Shirley Jones (aka Shirley Partridge) more prominently in The Christmas Song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and in a duet with David Cassidy on Winter Wonderland.
David Cassidy shines on White Christmas, Blue Christmas and one of the better version of Rockin Around the Christmas Tree but delivers a rather serious version of Frosty the Snowman that sounds more mournful than hopeful.
Overall, this is a fun collection of Christmas pop to lighten your holidays.
