dvestal's Full Review: A Partridge Family Christmas Card by The Partridge...
Oh my God! This is my favorite Christmas album of all time!
Let me first start out by say that I'm a terrible music critic and I can't really explain why I like something or what the album may sound like. I just know that I love this album.
My mom originally bought this album on vinyl at a Woolworths store back in the seventy's. I grew up, every Christmas, hearing this album and it is now etched into my mind "The Partridge Family Christmas Card" IS Christmas.
My brother ended up with the original album during one of my parents moves only because he found it first in their "give-away" pile of junk. I was devastated, but at least I knew he held it as dearly in his heart as I did. Years later, or about seven years ago, I found it on CD in a music store and couldn't believe my eyes. I purchased it immediately and have been playing it the whole month of December ever since.
It sounds pretty hokey, like all other Partridge Family music and it really only is David Cassidy and Shirley Jones singing on it with back-up singers. I wasn't even a Partridge Family fan, but to me this album represents the holiday season. So go on, make fun of me, my partner does! But I'll keep listening to this album until someone is prying it from my cold dead hands!
