Blasphemy! (Reply to this comment)

Because of this album i play BASS!
As the title infers, "Sailing the seas of cheese" is a journey. The line up of tracks is itself notable to Primus' intelligence. As most good stories, there's an introduction, plot, character build up, climax, and resolution. This album is definitive of a story. Though it may sound silly, given the titles of tracks, and their lyrics. The interpretation is genius. Les Claypool seems to say, America and the world, is filled ,almost overflowing, with character, and characters. The track listing, and each tracks subject changes and adjusts as a person does. Either in a moment or a lifetime.
The simple imagery of fishing, showering, and day to day relation with life, hits home to any who are involved with themselves, and their environment.
I was 15 when i listened to this album. It was my first CD. I had cassettes, and records, but this CD paved the way for acceptance to abstract, experimental, free-form, improvisational, and anything beyond Top 40's range.
For Bass players it is a course requirement, rock lovers it will stay in the car to be listened to repeatedly, new comers should be drawn in by the "hits" ,but to fully appreciate Primus, listen to this album in its entirety, uninterrupted, with an open mind.

Ha! Correction noted, and discarded!
Sorry to bash a favorite. I hope it came across loud and clear that I just think it's right for me....
Hopefully...

There is no such thing as "too much" Frank Zappa.
:)
Neat lousy review of one of my favorites...

I must admit I'm not a big Primus fan, in fact I'm only familiar with Wynonas Big Brown Beaver. however I will probably check out this album (or one of the others you mentioned) just to get a feel for what you are saying, despite what you have written.
I am however familiar with the flying frog brigade and Oysterhead. I would be curious what you think of the Oysterhead album in comparison to the Primus catalog.
