Pros: Great introduction of Queen's back to basics new forthcoming album.
Cons: Just one song, and old single as the flip side.
The Bottom Line: This is a rare collector's item now. No one sells it, and you hardly see it on eBay either.

| scapp70's Full Review: Headlong [Single] by Queen |
Released in January of 1991, this cassette single was the only new Queen music I had for a month, while waiting for the new CD, Innuendo to arrive.
This single got a lot of play in my car back then. Since there really was just one song on there, (the other side was Under Pressure, the duet with David Bowie first released on 1981's Queen's Greatest Hits album), it was Headlong over and over again.
Now that I look back, I feel that this was a bit of a gyp, now I know that all other countries received a new song as well as Headlong. While the USA got Under Pressure, other countries got All God's People or The Hitman from the forth coming album, or a long lost Queen song from 1973 called Mad The Swine.
The US received Mad The Swine in time and in a better placement; the re-issue of the debut Queen album, Queen as an extra bonus track.
This version of Headlong is the 'single edit' or now that there is a video, the video edit. I prefer this version to the full length CD 'album version'. The album version seems to have unnecessary lengthiness to it. This single edit is perfect. This was not the first single off the album anywhere in the world but in the US. I guess the new record company, Hollywood Records, chose one of the heavier and more poppy songs as a taste. It still slightly got some airplay, but luckily it didn't slow down the promotional releases from Hollywood Records, they are some of my favorite in my collection.
Freddie sings this song with a newly found energy it seems, and the band is truly rocking in this song. It signified to me, a real and true return to what Queen does best, but haven't done truly since 1978's JAZZ album.
Although, my perception was true, it was also pointless, as unbeknownst to me; this was Queen's swan song.
Oh, it was great that year for a Queen fan, right up to November 24th, 1991.
Like I mentioned above, Under Pressure is the flip side of this cassette single. It's a great song written and performed by Queen and David Bowie. Sadly, most people remember the Vanilla Ice rap song before they remember the Queen/Bowie version. Vanilla Ice lifted the bouncy bass line from Under Pressure and placed it in his #1 song, Ice Ice Baby.
Remember Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby, raise your hands...
Who remembers Under Pressure, show of hands? See?
More people remember Vanilla Ice's song. Oh sadness.
