Oh yes...it is a massive album. I would say that between Rage Against the Machine, Faith No More, and the Beastie Boys we have three major influences of nu-metal. I nearly put that precise thing in my review, but I didn't want to draw unnecessary attention to the genre ;)

In any case, I'm pretty busy over the holidays. I *may* get an opportunity to submit to your write off (I appreciate the invitation) but, alas, this is a time of year when "real life" supercedes Epinions.

Thanks for stopping by. I do appreciate it.

Shelly.

One of the most influential albums of the 90s?

*Gulp* - I didn't even know it existed! By the way, I noticed you used the phrase heavily influenced instead by rap. Would you say that's the basis by which, say, nu-metal bands formed? Please forgive me too for drawing unnecessary attention to myself, but, if you find yourself with the time, would you grace my humble write-off with an entry?

Yours in ignorance (for being unaware of this clearly massive album),
Black Star 40.

Ha...yeah. Rage was REALLY popular at my college too (graduated in 1999). That and White Zombie, Nine inch Nails, Barenaked Ladies (it was on the border of Canada, so....), Presidents of the USA, Jimmy Buffett, and the Bloodhound Gang among others. I personally liked Zombie and nin. Go figure.

;)

Thanks for dropping by.

This was a popular CD in college on the floor of our off-campus apartment. It was a big reason we had to repair a lot of dry wall by the time we moved out.

To add, though, Wikipedia (who I referenced to ensure I wasn't hallucinating the name I put there) said that the bassist actually has gone by Tim Bob. The entry lists the following as aliases:

Tim Commerford a.k.a Timmy C., Tim Bob, Simmering T, Y.tim.K and Tim.Com - bass

That said, I did adjust my review to show his birth name.

Thanks.

Naw. You're right. I guess I was thinking I was in stereotypical southern US for a moment. Apologies.
