My Review
I love 80s music so I had to buy Lionel Richie’s Can’t Slow Down cd. Lionel Richie’s music in the 80s was the best. I always feel as if I know the songs before I hear them.
Can’t Slow Down has a mixture of pop, rock, and r&b music. It also features a song with a country sound to it. These songs were just right for the 80s. What’s even better is that the songs don’t sound too dated in my opinion. Others may find the music a little dated, but I could still listen to these songs today and enjoy them.
The songs on this cd are about love and having fun. These were usually the subjects of songs in the 80s so it was an appropriate sound for this cd. The writers did an excellent job with these songs. Speaking of the writers, Lionel Richie wrote and co-wrote every song on this cd. He also worked with his then wife Brenda Harvey-Richie, David Cochrane, Greg Phillinganes, David Foster, and Cynthia Weil.
For those of you who are not familiar with Lionel Richie’s voice, he has a baritone voice. I love the way his voice sounds in every song. He has incredible in all of these songs.
My only complaint about the cd is it only has eight songs on it. It is so good that I would have loved to have heard more songs. Eight songs is too short in my opinion. I am glad that I didn’t pay that much money fort he cd ($5) because I would have been a little upset paying a lot of money for a cd that only has eight songs on it.

Dance Songs
Can’t Slow Down has a pop/r&b sound. The guitar and drums sell the music. Lionel sounds a little low on this song. The music drowns out his voice a little. I do enjoy the singing I can hear. He does a good job with the song even though it could be a little louder. All Night Long (All Night) has a pop sound. The music is incredible. The horn arrangement sets off the music. Lionel uses an accent in this song that works. He also has a segment where the background singers chant that works with the song. My only mini complaint is the song is a little long. Other than that, the song is perfect. Running With The Night has an r&b/rock beat. The music is really amazing. I love the guitar riffs in the music. Lionel sings well with the music. He has incredible pitch throughout the song. He holds little notes throughout the song that are pretty good. I would have liked for the notes to be longer, but I enjoyed the final result.
Ballads
Penny Lover has an r&b sound. The music is soft and beautiful. Lionel sings this softly to the beat. He does a good job with this song. Stuck On You has a country feel to it. This is a nice change of pace. The music is soft. The guitar sells the music. I don’t have any complaints. Love Will Find A way has an r&b beat. The music is romantic. Lionel does an excellent job. I like how he sings in time with the music. I also like the way Lionel as well as the background singers sing the chorus. The song is flawless. The Only One has an r&b/pop beat. I like how Lionel takes risks in this song. He holds little notes in the song. I was impressed because I didn’t expect him to do it. I have no complaints. Hello has an r&b/pop beat. The music is very beautiful. The music is soft and romantic. Lionel pours his heart out in this song. It’s a great song to listen to when you’re in the mood to hear a love song. Everything about the song works for me.

In Conclusion
Lionel Richie’s Can’t Slow Down is an excellent cd. I’m not surprised that the majority of the songs were hits because the songs are very good. I can listen to all of them without skipping anything. In my opinion, there is no filler on this cd. I highly recommend it.
